Young and dynamic label SUNA BAR radiates with exemplary new release SULTAN’S LOUNGE .With its finger on the pulse of the latest trends in music, SUNA BAR releases new album and presents ethereal and earthly sounds of a mystical kingdom melted in Lounge and Ambient tones. SULTAN’S LOUNGE, compiled by the no holds barred studio-sorcerer "Madame Rose" at the service of her boundless imagination, forms the milieu where Middle Eastern sounds are amalgamated with electronic essence to inspire visions in a dream of stately pleasure. The blend of Middle Eastern swirls and wind instruments like the ney and percussive beats along with crescendos and moving tunes of such Middle Eastern instruments like qanun, ney, oud and tamboura --arrives at the intersection where East meets West: indebted to both but faithful to neither. Having mastered the realm of the sultans of seven climates and the spirit of Lounge, compilation whiz Madame Rose brings perfectly together the masterpieces of musicians from the depths of history performed by today’s artists from different countries like the Slovak soprano Edita Gruberova; Polish instrumentalist, vocalist and composer Maria Pomianowska; Milagro Acustico Ensemble whose music travels through Mediterranean routes re-discovering traditions and Arab domination over the region, Ahmet "Hacı" Tekbilek, the internationally well-known master of ney and almost any instrument used in traditional Turkish music; the Turkish qanun virtuoso and composer Göksel Baktagir; Tanini Trio of qanun, ney and piano; Taksim Trio, featuring three of Turkey’s most in-demand master instrumentalists like Hüsnü Şenlendirici at clarinet, Ismail Tunçbilek at baglama and Aytaç Dogan at qanun; ney virtuoso Salih Bilgin and tamboura maestro Murat Aydemir; the oud virtuoso Mehmet C. Yeşilçay’s projects “Latin Turca” and “Soul of Istanbul”; Bizbize Topluluğu, the septet performing forgotten yet everlasting pieces from Turkish Music; Burak Demir and BAM SESSION whose thriving 2009 double CD album was released on Suna Bar Label: Dreamin' Istanbul & Chill Oud ; and Deniz Güngör, the maker of genuine music as heard on his solo album “Love alla Turca”. The opening track Hamam Buharı (Hamam Steam) unfurls slowly and ambiently as if cleaning and opening up the souls for the beginning of a mystical and exotic experience, where the second track Women’s Worth gently diffuses as an unforgettable interpretation of the aria
“Piangerò la sorte mia” from the Italian opera, Giulio Cesare (Julius Caesar) by George Frideric Handel. Chopin in Arabia, the unique arrangement of the masterpiece “Faded and Vanished” Op.74 no.13 of Frederic Chopin takes us to a desert land extremely rich in aural and melodious qualities. With Mavi Dünya (Blue world) you will be drifting by the tides of some blissful mass of water. Guilio Caccini’s much loved Ave Maria covered many times by musicians of different genres is sieved through Eastern sensations this time. Biçare (Helpless) and Siqiliah both add to the feeling of magnificence where Neva Peşrevi of Tanburi Cemil Bey - the Turkish tamboura virtuoso of 19th century, who has greatly contributed to the Ottoman Classical Music – makes you feel that you have hit the nirvana. An amazing surprise follows with Black Orpheus, the main theme of the impressionistic score from Marcel Camus's 1958 cinematic retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Bonfa. The album picks up the pace with Hicaz Potpuri, a medley of popular songs from Ottoman Balkans. If not before, the song Zalim (You Cruel) will definitely take you to the royal dancefloor of the SULTAN’S LOUNGE. Naturally, only the crème de la crème has entered the SULTAN’S LOUNGE, examples of which follow with such songs as Unfortunately, Amak-ı Hayal (Depths of Imagination), Kınalıada Sonbahar (Autumn in Kınalıada) and Çağrı (the Call). SULTAN’S LOUNGE is the correct album for dreaming, relaxing, feeling good, feeling magnificent and sensuous... Do treat yourself to the experience of a Sultan.
